You know what they say, it’s always better later than never! At the end of March 2018, I had the enormous chance of going to Paris all by myself for three days, and it was my very first solo city-trip. I had no one waiting for me, and although I was a little bit afraid at first. A city like Paris is quite overwhelming, and from what I remember from the first time I went with my parents many years ago, I felt a bit lost in such a vast city, but that was how I felt before this second travel. In a few words, this was by far one of my favorite trips I have ever done, I truly rediscovered myself in this beautiful city, and I think my style started to really define itself after I came back home. Paris truly inspires me and will always inspire me! Let’s dive back into my memory for my first full day in Paris.
MY VERY FIRST SOLO CITY-TRIP
I decided to stay at the Hotel Marais Bastille (Best Western), not far from the center and the main places I wanted to visit, which is in the 11th arrondissement, at the limit with the 3rd arrondissement. What I loved most about it was the fact that it was close to Le Marais and 2km from Notre-Dame. It had a close metro station (Bréguet-Sabin) in the same street; it was then very easy to go anywhere! The first morning I woke up in Paris, it was market day in the same hotel’s street, so I walked around for a bit and admired all the pretty flowers. After that, I went to discover Le Marais, la Place des Vosges, with its beautiful garden and I also passed by the Hotêl de Sully. I also walked around l’Hotêl de Ville for a while (City Hall).
During my trip, I planned on visiting some famous spots like places where scenes of Gossip Girl were filmed, for example, so I passed by the very chic “Chez Julien” Restaurant. I also discovered this little street called “Rue Nicolas Flamel,” which is the name of a man that existed in the 15th Century and inspired J.K.Rowling for her character of the same name in the Harry Potter Books.
I took some pictures of myself during the trip, but I sadly lost all my phone pictures three months after my trip. All my selfies are gone except for two or three that I got to post on my blog Instagram account at that time and that are still available to see.
Wandering for hours by La Seine and admiring all the pretty drawings, old photos, and old books at the Paris Bouquinistes was a dream come true. I even got two vintage Vogue Posters, and one of them has a picture of my dear Audrey Hepburn, who is my forever inspiration. I think I never bought as many postcards as I did than during this travel, but I LOVE collecting them so much! Do you also like to collect some precious objects like me, when you travel?!
I am honestly still absolutely amazed by Paris’s magical atmosphere, but also and especially by Notre-Dame’s beauty. Wishing this post made you travel a little bit from where you are right now and dream about being in this stunning city. Stay tuned for the second and last part of this amazing travel!
